First year graduate student, Margit Bowler, has received a NSF Graduate Research Fellowship to fund linguistic fieldwork in central Australia. She will begin by conducting research on Warlpiri, and am interested particularly in lexical categories in the language. Her long-term goal is to expand her fieldwork into related central Australian languages, for a broader perspective on lexical category in the region. She is looking forward to taking advantage of this fantastic funding opportunity to pursue fieldwork on less-documented Australian languages.
