Financial Support for Continuing Graduate Students

This Graduate Education site will acquaint you with the range of opportunities to support your graduate study at UCLA.

UCLA provides substantial support for its graduate students through fellowships, traineeships, and teaching and research assistantships. It offers $1,000 in conference or research travel to every doctoral student. (Please apply for these Doctoral Student Travel Grants before you ask the department for travel reimbursements!) UCLA also offers fellowships for doctoral students and Teaching and Research Assistantships.

A list of fellowships and funding opportunities of possible interest to linguistics graduate students (NSF, FLAS, Dissertation Year Fellowships, etc.) can be found on our department page.

The Linguistics Department offers its graduate students a minor financial incentive to apply for fellowships. The incentive consists of small department fellowship increases for people who apply and don’t get the fellowship they apply for.
