My research focuses (in part) on the question to what extent morphological generalizations can be accounted for in terms of purely syntactic operations and conditions. In this talk I will present a case study and reanalysis of the morpheme orders in Huave (San Francisco del Mar), a language isolate spoken in Oaxaca.
