Curriculum Vitae
I was born in 1964 in Reinbek. I studied Mathematics and Physics
at the Eberhard-Karls Universität Tübingen 1981 - 1984 and then
until 1987 at the Freie Universität Berlin. Thereafter I spent one
year at the Centre for Cognitive Sciences of the University of Edinburgh,
from which I received an MSc in Cognitive Science in 1988. Back in Berlin
I wrote my PhD thesis in 1992 under Wolfgang Rautenberg again at the Freie
Universität Berlin.
After that I spent one year in the Netherlands to do research with Albert
Visser and Jan van Eijck on the parallels between natural and programming
languages. I obtained my Habilitation in Mathematics in 1997 from the Freie
Universität Berlin and in General Linguistics in 1999 from the University
of Potsdam. In July 2002 I became an Assistant Professor at UCLA and
since July 2006 I am Associate Professor at UCLA.
