Intonation and Its Linguistic Function (Ling595EA) - seminar in Phonetics and Phonology
My general research interests are prosody, phonetics, laboratory phonology, and language acquisition. I am interested in anything related to prosody, but especially interested in 1) developing models of intonational phonology of various languages, 2) building a model of prosodic typology based on intonation and lexical prosody of typologically diverse languages, and 3) investigating how prosodic structure affects production and perception of segments, and 4) how prosody encodes information on syntactic structure and information structure, and guides sentence processing. My secondary research interests are second language acquisition and language re-acquisition of heritage speakers.
