This page contains occasional material such as assignments and
their solutions. The readng material, prepared by Terry Parsons,
can be found on the ecampus webpage.
Additional Material
-
A squib on c-command and scope. You may
read this if you are interested. It is not required reading, but
you may find this enlightening if you are interested in syntax
as well.
-
A squib on the division between semantics
and pragmatics. I recommend you read this. It may clarify
what the difference between them is and what pragmatic reasoning
achieves and what not.
-
A squib on logic and QR. I recommend you
read this as well. I give some background in predicate logic and
how to understand QR and relative clauses. The translation is
done very explicitly, by a procedure that translates the
structure into a string of our logical language.
-
A squib on intensionality. It gives
some background about possible worlds. If you are technically
minded or want to get to study more about non-extensionality, try
this out. Not required, but recommened.
