We are delighted to announce that Ben Eischens (Ph.D. UC Santa Cruz expected 2022) has accepted our offer to join our department as an assistant professor as of July 1. Ben’s recent research is on the phonology and phonetics of San Martín Peras Mixtec, an Otomanguean language of Oaxaca, Mexico, though he has previously also worked on its syntax. In 2022-23 Ben will teach our graduate field methods sequence.
The UCLA Linguistics Department’s normal business hours are M-F 8am-12pm, 1-4pm. Office schedule and availability may change based on UCLA protocol (www.covid-19.ucla.edu).
