The 56th Annual Meeting of the North East Linguistics Society (NELS 56) was held on October 17-19th, 2025, at NYU. The following UCLA linguists presented:

- Michelle Yuan (faculty): “Clitic coalescence in San Juan Piñas Mixtec at the syntax-phonology interface” (with Gabriela Caballero and Claudia Juárez Chávez)
- Nikos Angelopoulos (PhD alum): “Rethinking Greenberg’s Universal 5 and the (im)possibility of certain head orders” (with Dimitris Michelioudakis, Stergios Chatzikyriakidis, Natalia Chousou-Polydouri, and Elena Anagnostopoulou)
