New NSF grant

Pat Keating is a co-investigator on a new 3-year NSF grant to UCLA, “Variance and invariance in voice quality: Implications for machine and human speaker identification”.  In an earlier phase of this project, Pat coordinated the recording and transcription of the UCLA Speaker Variability Database in the Phonetics Lab. Prof. Jody Kreiman, who has a joint appointment in our department, is also a co-investigator. Prof. Abeer Alwan of EE is the Principal Investigator, and SEAS has posted a brief interview with her about the grant project.
