Department chair, Bruce Hayes, writes:
An intensive search has yielded a new Undergraduate Adviser (a.k.a. SAO, Student Affairs Officer) for our department. This is none other than our own Alejandra Garcia, who has served us so well as Department Coordinator. The job fits wells with Ale’s long-term career plans and she also has a surprising amount of experience already in student advising. I believe Ale will do an outstanding job and hope you will join me in welcoming her to the position.
Between now and August 3 (her official start date), Ale will be ramping up to the task, working under the guidance of our senior SAO, Sara Hosegera.
Thanks to the faculty and staff members of the Search Committees for producing a great shortlist and this successful outcome.
The search for a successor to Ale as Department Coordinator is on. You might be able to help, if you can think of good people to apply. We are looking for someone who has a warm personality, is very efficient, and can learn complex skills quickly. New graduates are eligible to apply.
Congratulations Ale!
