Five Minute Linguist Contest at LSA

Published: February 5, 2024

The 2024 Annual Meeting of the Linguistic Society of America included its traditional Five Minute Linguist event, where linguists make brief presentations of their research intended to be engaging for a general audience. This year there were both video submissions and in-person talks, and the winning in-person talk was by our department’s Kie Zuraw, on joint work with Paolo Roca, “What songs can tell us about language: rhythms in Filipino pop music”. You can view a screencast version of the talk here on the LSA’s Youtube channel.
